The second installment focuses heavily on co-op gameplay; zombie killing is a group effort, after all. To make your lives a more torturous hell, a new realism setting has been added. This makes the game more of a pain in the zombified ass. Items you find in a room won’t glow right away, forcing you to investigate every part of the room for ammo, health packs, and other necessities of zombie survival. Teammates can only be revived with a defibrillator pack — if you can find them, because their silhouettes have been removed. Worst of all, killing the hoards of undead creatures around you is much more difficult, particularly with the more powerful creatures — like the Witch, who can now kill you instantly if she manages to sink her claws into you. Besides the main campaign, both Versus and Survival have returned along with a new multi-player mode: Scavenge.
Left 4 Dead had gamers gnawing at each other’s legs, desperate for a taste of another zombie-tastic adventure. Now Left 4 Dead 2 will make your zombie hunting fantasies come true. So grab your baseball bat and start knocking the brains out of a couple hundred zombies.
